Saturday Rugby Review:
Last Saturday the Men’s 1st XV and Dev XV’s were in league action. The Men’s 3rd XV Counties 4 BBO Cup Quarter Final at home to Chipping Norton was cancelled with the Men’s 3rd XV being a awarded a walk over.
The Men’s 1st XV travelled to Bletchley for their latest Tribute Southern Counties North League match. This was always going to be a difficult encounter as Bletchley are in fourth place in the league and have historically been a difficult side to beat on home turf.
The game proved to be a very tight affair. Bletchley opened the scoring with a penalty early on to lead 3 nil. Windsor soon fought back with a Ben Grant- Adamson try, which he duly converted to give Windsor a narrow 7 points to 3 lead in the first 10 minutes of the half.
The remainder of the first half proved to be a dogged affair with Windsor failing to add any further points despite pressure on Bletchley’s try line. Bletchley, on the other hand, added two further penalties to lead at half time.
Half Time Score Bletchley 9 Points, Windsor 7.
The second half kicked off and there was hope that Windsor would be able to take more advantage as they were playing with the wine. Again the second half proved a very dogged affair.
Bletchley added an unconverted try. Windsor replied with a Ben Grant- Adamson try which meant the score was 14 points to 10 in the home side’s favour as we approached the final minutes of the game.
After a period of Windsor pressure and after 30 phases of play Windsor scored a try when prop Liam Mackay crashed over the line from a short tapped penalty. There were jubilant scenes as Windsor had scored on the play of the game. Ben Grant- Adamson converted the try to give Windsor the lead by 19 points to 14..
In a bizarre turn of events , the referee penalised Windsor for their celebration and rather than blowing the final whistle restarted the game with a penalty much to the surprise of the both sets of players and spectators.
Bletchley ran the penalty and after a prolonged period of pressure scored to take the lead by 19 points to 17. Bletchley were then penalised for their try celebration.
The game restarted with a Windsor penalty and Windsor failed to score and the final whistle went which meant that Windsor’s winning streak had been ended in the strangest of ways.
Final Score Bletchley 19 , Windsor 17 points

Report from Sharon Richards ( Windsor RFC Head Of Women);
Windsor Women win epic battle against top of the league Belsize Park Women!
Our Windsor Dames battled hard against undefeated league leaders Belsize Park in an exciting quarter-final match in the Papa Johns Plate. The game was always going to be a tough, physical one and my goodness it was exactly that!
The game was a ping-pong of tries between both teams. The Dames defence was excellent, not allowing Belsize through the middle, forcing them to the outside channels in order to score. Final score 31-22 to The Dames!
Well done to every Dame on that pitch, you played your hearts out!
Ray Cox, The Dames Head Coach said “I can safely say that was one of the best battles I have seen the Dames pull out. The grit and determination the team showed today was brilliant. Well-deserved The Dames.”
