Last weekend the only league game played was the Senior Men’s 3rd XV OBB Counties 4 League Match against Bracknell 4th XV, which was a top of the table clash as both sides are competing to win the league title.

Before the match the Pre Match League Lunch still took place, despite the Men’s 1st XV League game against Grove being cancelled, with over 70 guests attending. Guests included a Reunion of Old Windsor RFC Players, Windsor & Eton Brewery, who are the main sponsor of Windsor RFC’s Senior Women and the U12s.

At the lunch Jon Radford, CEO of Windsor & Eton Brewery was presented with a framed Windsor Dames Shirt and Barry Jordan and Ed Mitchell were presented with their Volunteer of the Month Awards for organizing this season’s Minis Tour which takes place in early May and for manning the BBQs at the Minis and U12s Festivals to raise money for tour funds.

Tom Johnson, a former player from Windsor RFC, also delivered a very entertaining speech of his memories of playing rugby at Windsor RFC in the 1960s.

Nick Viney shared the Berkshire U14s Cup won the previous weekend by our u14s section, and kindly gifted the club a Photo of the England 2003 World Cup winning squad (Limited edition), with all their signatures.

As a result of the Men’s 1st XV games being cancelled the Men’s 3rd XV Match was played in front of a good crowd and was an entertaining match which Windsor won by 66 points to 12. The Thirds now have one more home match to play against Hungerford 2nd XV on Saturday March 1st 2025 when the can win the league.

With the Men’s 1st XV securing the Home Walk Over they are still in second place 5 points behind Oxford Harlequins 2nd XV. With 4 matches to play starting with a tough away fixture at Bletchley, who are in fourth place on Saturday March 1st 2025, the side has a very good chance of securing promotion this season as one of the best runners up in the country at this level.

Sunday’s rugby at Home Park was also very quiet mainly due to School Half Term. The Senior Women and the Colts did not have any fixtures and there were no Berkshire Youth League or Cup matches.
