Windsor Minis Festival in the Sunshine!

Windsor Minis Festival in the Sunshine!

Jennifer McGeachie8 Oct - 10:03

Tries and smiles aplenty

A perfect day of minis rugby
Sunday saw perfect weather for our first festival of the season as we welcomed almost 1000 minis players to Home Park. The BBQs were set up early and the coffee and bacon rolls were ready to go as the first teams arrived to find their pitches.
U7s and U8s had an incredible morning with cries of tag there and try ringing out every few seconds. It was great to see some of our youngest players putting into practice what they've learnt so far.

U9s, U10s and U11s were in the slightly windier aspect of pitch 4 in Home Park but some incredible rugby was witnessed. The U9s looked like they'd be playing contact for years and the teamwork and camaraderie of the 10s and 11s was wonderful to see.

A few thank-yous

Thanks to our club physios Ollie & Rosie for helping to ensure player safety throughout the day and to Shane & Dave Minis Chairs for all of their organisation of the festival site.

A huge thank you to the organising committee of the WRFC U12s minis tour - a phenomenal amount of work went in to making the day a success. Co- Head Coach (U12s) Dave Allen said "every player and parent went above and beyond today, especially our U12s players - they did everything with a huge smile on their face."

We'd also like to thank our partnership club Ealing Trailfinders for providing some fun & games for players (and plenty of parents) to take part in.

And finally thank you the coaches, parents and spectators for instilling the values of TREDS throughout the day. Walking around we saw lots of smiles and support and cheering - we hope that every player went home with something to be proud of.

It will be the turn of the U12s to take part in their own festival on the 7th of December and our teams are looking forward to it already.

Good luck for the rest of the season minis, the future of rugby looks great in your hands!
