Last Saturday, the Old Windsorians Centenary Lunch took place, attended by more than 80 people. Some guests had not visited the club in nearly 40 years, and others travelled from as far as Scotland and Kenya to be there. The Old Windsorians Ladies (OWLs) also joined the celebrations.
The lunch was a fitting way to mark the Old Windsorians’ Centenary.
Although the Old Windsorians RFC name disappeared when Windsor and Old Windsorians merged in 1987, the Old Windsorians’ DNA remains very much alive in the current club, both on and off the field. Myself, Andy Bailes, and Tom Codd are all Old Windsorians, and Jen’s father-in-law also played for the club.
In the current first-team squad, five players are sons of former Old Windsorians: Liam and Adam Bailes, Tim Bascombe, Vice-Captain Ben Grant-Adamson, and Captain Allen Crawshaw.
An Old Windsorians Dinner is also planned for the end of February next year, more details will follow in due course.
