THE SAD PASSING OF STEVE CULLEN

The Club are very sad to learn of the death of Steve Cullen wo passed away last Tuesday. I'm not sure but believe Steve was 75 or 76 years old.

Steve had struggled with advancing cancer for a number of years, going through many different cancer treatments, whilst not curable, to try and stop its rate of spread. He was getting to the stage with the cancer of entering a hospice but unfortunately Steve had a nasty fall and broke his hip, was take to hospital, but never recovered from the operation.

Steve was a club member for many years and held several roles on the clubs General Management Committee. He was a VP, Postminder, and also recipient of The Gordon Wigley Award.

In the early days Steve did a great deal of work in applying for and securing various grant applications, helped the club gain RFU accreditation and lead on the development of the clubs website.

Steve also held several positions with Berkshire County RFU including President; he was a Life Member and a Vice President.

For many years Steve was also Chair of The Home Park Sports Club Committee.

Our deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to Steve's family at this difficult time, and in particular to his son James who has played rugby at Windsor for many years since youth days and as a senior was an outstanding scrum half, wing/full back with frightening pace and skills.

Very sad news indeed.

Kind Regards

Ian Potter WINDSOR RFC President
