WINDSOR RFC 2025 Minis Tour
U8s
U8s enjoyed their 2 days of rugby, scoring some incredible tries and playing the tournament with a great team spirit. It was a cool experience for the kids to play against other teams from all round the country and the presentation ceremony will be remembered for years to come!
Highlights of the weekend include fish and chips on the seafront, soaking up the sunshine on the beach and singing our team song, Wonderwall. We also enjoyed Sundowner drinks on coach Bob's penthouse balcony (other standards of accommodation were available!) and the kids had mastered the 2p machines by the end of the weekend. It was all wrapped up on Sunday evening with a trip to the disco where chief redcoat coach Rich was leading the entertainment! A great tour had by all u8s, where new friendships were forged on and off the pitch, bring on next year!
U9s
Windsor RFC Under 9s entertained the crowds both on and off the pitch with an expansive style of play and award winning vocals in the club song contest in the beach.
On the pitch, games against Old Alleynians, Brockworth, Kenfig Hill, Towcestrians and Harlequins were all first-time fixtures and gave the team an opportunity to experience various styles of play from London to South Wales, via Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire. The team stepped up the physicality with tackling across the side improving dramatically on the Sunday. No doubt the time spent bonding in the arcades and swimming pool will be equally memorable.
U10s
The under-10s Windsor Foxes and Stags had a spectacular rugby weekend, showcasing their unwavering commitment to TREDS and playing their hearts out in matches that were truly beautiful to watch. The parents’ support was phenomenal, creating an atmosphere of encouragement and pride that fuelled the players’ enthusiasm. Off the pitch, the kids embraced everything Butlins had to offer, with the arcades proving to be a firm favourite. One of the most unforgettable moments of the weekend was the sight of players gleefully chasing down Coach Adam on the beach, tackling him in his hilarious seagull costume—a scene that perfectly captured the team’s spirit and camaraderie. Adding to the excitement, Windsor welcomed two new coaches, Adam "Seagull" Fenton and Shane "Bob Minion" Pusey, whose energy and dedication promise to bring even more fun and development to the squad. It was a weekend of rugby, laughter, and lasting memories!
U11s
The U11’s Viking’s set off from Windsor full of fighting spirit on the Friday afternoon. The Warriors, and the Generals both boarding their transport ready for battle !
The detour through the city of Bristol added to the mystery of the journey, as well as the time spent on the coach. Once arrival was complete, and all were checked in, thoughts turned to rugby and what may face us over the next two days. A few nerves and anxiety (within the coaching team) were soon put aside on Saturday morning as we lined up for our first games. Both teams played like the possessed for the next 2 days, rarely taking a backwards step. Taking on teams from Northern Ireland, Wales and England. Conducting themselves with great maturity and manners. They made both parents and coaches proud.
As the season ends we will say goodbye, and miss our female players and coach, who now move into the ladies team. We wish them well, and will be supporting them on their rugby journey as they grow into their new roles. Everyone now eagerly awaits the Pirate tour that awaits us in 2026 ! Adventures Ahoy !
U12s
The U12s enjoyed two glorious days of rugby by the seaside in Minehead on their final minis tour. Matched up against teams from all over the British Isles, both the Gladiators and Spartans more than held their own. They can be proud of how they played their brand of expansive rugby in face of some tough opposition and a tough slope!
Away from rugby, coaches and parents retreated to the comforts of the Beachcomber Inn (and much later, to Reds), while the boys had a blast on the arcades and spent hours in the water park. Our esteemed Roman leaders led the Windsor group on a rendition of our tour songs on the beach on Saturday evening while the sun set, something none of us will ever forget. All in all, a fantastic weekend, full of memories, camaraderie and a hard act to follow for next year!
